Which might make it worse, given that the Wings then lost in a shoot out.

I get switching ends in the 3rd to keep the wind and elements fair. But for OT, play it all in one direction and let the home team pick which way they want to go. Home ice advantage should come into play for a whopping 2 minutes of clock time.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10070336276176521787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796383459721793585.post-58493336749859417062014-01-02T10:21:50.847-05:002014-01-02T10:21:50.847-05:00The 10-minute horn is no different than the horn t...The 10-minute horn is no different than the horn to end the period. Both teams know it is coming and it is a roll of the dice what is going on when it happens. The odds are even on which team has possession when the horn blows.

My question is which team is considered "home" team, as that determines who has the last line change and who has to put down when on the face-offs. That is a more significant advantage. Was Detroit the home team? Since it was in the Big House, they were for all intents home.Inquiring Mindsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796383459721793585.post-8518139733030374422014-01-02T07:30:22.899-05:002014-01-02T07:30:22.899-05:00Isn't it an absolute certainty that your "...Isn't it an absolute certainty that your "CBJ missing the Playoffs" scenario will actually occur? If the league was so intent on switching ends, why not wait until the first stoppage in play after the desired time? That way, the switch happens without so overtly affecting the outcome.

As for the game itself: It was pleasant. It was a regular season game, a decent way to blow an afternoon from my couch. Dark Blue Jacketnoreply@blogger.com
